When a woman is found murdered in a seedy flat, detectives from the Ostankino precinct of Moscow begin an investigation that will lead them on a circuitous trail across the Soviet Union, from a sweltering Moscow apartment, to the arrest, interrogation and ultimate video confession of the killer, more than a thousand miles away.
